Bath time should be a relaxing experience for babies. Especially for newborns, the first bath should be given after the umbilical cord falls off.
Ideal Water and Room Temperature
Baby skin is very sensitive. The temperature of the bath water should be close to body temperature, which is 36-37 degrees Celsius (97-99 Fahrenheit). The room temperature should be kept between 22-24 degrees Celsius.
- You can measure the temperature with your elbow or a bath thermometer.
- Tear-free, paraben-free baby shampoos should be preferred.
How Often Should You Bathe Them?
Babies do not need to be bathed every day like adults. Bathing 2-3 times a week ensures the skin barrier does not dry out. After the bath, moisturizing with a natural baby oil is a must.
