A large part of our day is spent looking at a computer screen. Incorrect sitting posture and inactivity eventually lead to a straight neck, back pain, and posture disorders (hunchback/kyphosis).
Stretching Movements Applicable in the Office
- Neck Stretch: Place your right hand on the left side of your head and gently pull it to the right, hold for 10 seconds and apply to the other side.
- Shoulder Rolls: Raise your shoulders towards your ears and loosen them by rolling them backwards in circular motions. This instantly relieves accumulated stress.
- Torso Twist: Sit up straight in your chair. Grab the right armrest of the chair with your hands and twist your torso to the right, then repeat to the left.
How Should the Correct Sitting Position Be?
Your monitor must be at eye level. Your feet should be flat on the floor (using a footrest if necessary), and your lower back should be supported by an ergonomic pillow. Standing up and taking a short walk around the office every 45 minutes will ease blood circulation.
